Turnbull asks TCS to open innovation centre in Australia

During Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull’s visit to Mumbai, the financial capital of India, he showed keen interest in the activities of innovation centres operated by TCS.

After landing in Mumbai, post his first diplomatic meet with PM Narendra Modi in Delhi, on April 11, the Australian leader visited the TCS campus. Impressed by progress in innovation and technology made in the Mumbai and Chennai centres of TCS, he invited TCS to open a similar facility in Australia.

To boost employment and growth, Turnbull thought fit for Indian software giant TCS to establish an innovation centre in the island country of Australia. He also expressed appreciation for the company’s efforts to promote education in the technical fields of STEM.

Turnbull was shown around TCS headquarters by newly anointed CEO and MD Rajesh Gopinathan himself, and was also accompanied by top executives of TCS. After an initial tour of the campus, the Australian delegation, along with the TCS top brass had a closed-door meeting.

After spending almost an hour on the campus, Turnbull took leave. He was scheduled to address the elite business fraternity in the city that evening. Ending his three-day visit to India, Malcolm will depart in the afternoon of April 12.

Post Turnbull’s campus visit, Gopinathan stated that TCS worked with six of the top 10 companies listed on the Australian Stock Exchange.

“We also showcased how we are able to leverage technology for innovation and global competitiveness that we do for our Australian clients,” he added.

In closing comments, he said that it was great to have the Australian PM visit TCS.
