AirAsia X wins two Skytrax World Airline awards

AirAsia X has won two global awards for the fourth consecutive year in a row at Skytrax World Airline Awards 2016 held at the Farnborough International Airshow on Tuesday. The air carrier has once again bagged the World’s Best Low-Cost Airline Premium Cabin award and World’s Best Low-Cost Airline Premium Seat award.
Skytrax Awards are called as the ‘Oscars of the aviation industry’ and an international benchmark of airline excellence with more than 19 million customer surveys done across the world. AirAsia X Group CEO Kamarudin Meranun said that the company is continuously improving its cabin experience and the two awards prove this.
AirAsia X was the first to introduce flatbed seats having standard business class specifications in full recline position. The premium flatbeds have the best features such as universal power sockets, adjustable headrests and built-in personal utilities like tray table, drink holder, reading light and privacy screen. Premium flatbeds also offer complimentary products and services.
The low-cost carrier operates the youngest fleet of Airbus A330 aircraft in the world. The average age of the fleet is 4.5 years across all affiliates. The company has ordered more than 60 Airbus A330neo and 10 Airbus A350XWB deliveries. It currently serves 20 destinations across Asia that include Osaka, Seoul, Taipei, Beijing, Hangzhou, Chengdu, Shanghai and Kathmandu.
AirAsia X operates a core fleet of 31 A330-300s with a seat configuration of 12 premium flatbeds and 365 economy seats. The airline has carried around 19 million customers ever since its operations begun in 2007. The company is the first airline to collaborate with INTERPOL to implement the I-Checkit system to screen passports of all passengers​.
