appointment of the Chairman of Appellate Tribunal under SAFEMA

Whereas, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Manmohan Singh, a Judge of the Delhi High Court has been appointed as Chairman of the Appellate Tribunal established under Smugglers and Foreign Manipulators (Forfeiture of Property) Act, 1976 vide Office Order No.267 of 2016 from the date of assumption of charge of the post till the date of retirement and thereafter on re-appointment basis for a combined tenure not exceeding three years or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

And whereas, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Manmohan Singh assumed charge of the office of Chairman of the said Tribunal in the forenoon on 22nd September, 2016.

Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of Section 12 of the Smugglers and Foreign Exchange Manipulators (Forfeiture of Property) Act, 1976 (13 of 1976), amended vide Ministry of Law and Justice’s Notification dated 14.05.2016, read with clause (a) of Sub-Rule 11 of the Appellate Tribunal for Forfeited Property (Conditions of Service of Chairman and Members) Rules, 1978, the Central Government hereby appoints Mr. Justice Manmohan Singh, Judge of the Delhi High Court, as the Chairman of Appellate Tribunal under SAFEMA. He shall hold office for a period of three years with effect from the forenoon of 22nd September, 2016.
