Govt begins anti-dumping probe on imports of 2-Ethyl Hexanol

2-Ethyl Hexanol is a colourless liquid used in several products and processes including functional fluid, solvents, process chemical, fragrances and several other chemicals such as plasticisers and emollients.
The government has initiated anti-dumping investigation on imports of 2-Ethyl Hexanol (2-EH) from the US, European Union (EU), China, Saudi Arabia, Taipei, Malaysia and Indonesia.2-Ethyl Hexanol is a colourless liquid used in several products and processes including functional fluid, solvents, process chemical, fragrances and several other chemicals such as plasticisers and emollients.The decision was taken after The Andhra Petrochemicals Ltd., the only producer of 2-Ethyl Hexanol in India, alleged that cheap imports of the material from these countries had caused significant injuries to the domestic market. The company submitted an application to the government requesting it to initiate an anti-dumping investigation against the listed countries. “On the basis of sufficient prima facie evidence submitted by the applicants, (We are) initiating this anti-dumping investigations concerning import of subjected goods, originating in or exported from the above countries, to determine the existence, degree and effect of alleged dumping and to recommend the amount of anti-dumping duty, which, if levied would be adequate to remove the injury to the domestic industry,” Ministry of Commerce said in a statement.The government has already notified the authorities of the countries about the application submitted by the Andhra Pradesh-based Petrochemical company. “The government of the Republic of Korea was also informed, through its Embassy in India, about the receipt of the application in accordance with the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) agreement,” the ministry said.Furthermore, the Indian government has been working out a transaction-wise details of imports of 2- EH over the last three years
