Indian government to ensure no steel products are imported in the guise of finished products

The Dollar Business Bureau The Union Minister for Steel Chaudhary Birender Singh on Friday said the government will ensure that steel products are not brought into the country in the guise of utensils or finished products. “We are keeping an eye on the import of steel in guise of finished products. We will not allow such kind of practice even in trade,” Union Minister of Steel Chaudhary Birender Singh told reporters after addressing a meeting of the National Steel Consumers’ Council here. Trump initiates probe into causes for $700 bn trade deficit

The Dollar Business Bureau In another executive order signed by Donald Trump, the Department of Commerce and the Office of  USTR (US Trade Representative) have been asked to submit, within 90 days, a comprehensive report on the causes of USA's $700 billion trade deficit. Commerce Secretary, Wilbur Ross, is to lead the said investigation of unfair trade practices hurting the US economy. Threatening countries which get away with violating import duties, Trump asserted that a detailed investigation of trade abuses will be done, following which stringent laws will be put in place to prevent them. India starts probe against dumping of chemical from China

The Dollar Business Bureau India has started a probe against the dumping from China for a chemical that is used in glass and other sectors to safeguard the domestic manufacturers from cheap imports. The Directorate of Anti-Dumping & Allied Duties (DGAD) has found enough evidence of dumping from China for the chemical. “The authority hereby initiates an investigation into the alleged dumping, and consequent injury to the domestic industry,” it said in a notification. The DGAD, in its probe, will determine the degree, existence and effect of the alleged dumping of the chemical and after that recommend the quantum of the duty to be levied, which would be sufficient to remove the injury caused to the local industry. Commerce Ministry launches dedicated website for DGAD

Govt taking timely measures to protect steel industry: Steel Minister

China objects to Indias anti-dumping on steel

The Dollar Business Bureau China has expressed concerns over India launching an anti-dumping investigation against Chinese steel products.  The Chinese Ministry of Commerce said it seeks a fair and transparent investigation in accordance with WTO rules. The state-run Xinhua news agency, citing the Chinese Ministry of Commerce, said China is highly concerned by Indian trade remedy measures against Chinese steel products. The world’s largest steel manufacturer said excess steel output is a global challenge, and countries should face it up, rather than coming up with up harsh trade-remedy measures.
