Govt introduces ERP scheme to benefit handloom weavers
The ERP system has been integrated with cloud technology to provide real-time information on NHDC activities to all stakeholders.The government on Sunday introduced Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system – a scheme which would improve productivity, increase efficiencies, decrease costs and streamline supply of raw material – to boost India’s textile industry. The ERP system is aimed at benefitting the country’s handloom weavers through a quicker delivery of NHDC (National Handloom Development Corporation Ltd.) material. The system will include India’s major Yarn Mills, thereby enabling the weavers to indentify and place order as well as check the status of delivery through the online ERP system. “All processes - such as identification, purchase order generation and invoice generation - will be performed through the ERP system itself. This reduces the lead time and also makes the system transparent. Any delay in the chain can be identified by the weaver, and by all other stakeholders,” Ministry of Textile said in a statement. The system will also focus on transparency and accountability in all handloom-related transactions in order to ensure that weavers are able topurchase yarn at the best available price across the country. In line with the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led Digital India initiative, the ERP system has been integrated with cloud technologies to provide real-time information on NHDC activities to all stakeholders such as mills, transporters, societies and weavers. On Sunday, the Textiles Minister Santosh Kumar Gangwar launched the ERP system in Varanasi. He also laid the foundation stone of an Integrated Textile Office Complex at the Indian Institute of Handloom Technology (IIHT) in Varanasi.
