Harley-Davidson plans to expand into tier II Indian cities

The company has 26 dealerships currently across the country and has plans to set up four more in tier II cities

On Feb 17, 2017, Harley-Davidson’s Indian director of Marketing & Communications Pallavi Singh, spoke to media at the Harley-Davidson Group (HDG) rally held in Panaji, Goa regarding the company’s plan to expand its dealership.

Singh said that Harley-Davidson has its presence in 60% of the Indian superbikes market.

The Indian director said that the company has 26 dealerships currently across the country and has plans to set up four more in tier II cities to expand its dealership and increase its growth rate. 

Presently the uber-stylish motorcycle company has 16 showrooms and offers 11 models from each of its six platforms, Dyna, Sportster, V-Rod, Softail, Street and Touring in addition to offering a range of accessories, spare parts and general merchandise through its dealerships in India.

 The marketing head added that the financial year of 2016 has been favourable and is hopeful that the coming years will be good too. She highlighted that valuing customer experience would leave a good impression resulting in adding value to the company’s growth. Incidentally, Singh has been a part of the Harley-Davidson founding team in India since its inception in 2009.


The current focus of the company is to expand since the demand of the company’s superbikes has increased in the Indian major cities. As per the 2016 calendar year, 4,241 units were sold across India. 

Harley-Davidson had set up its first assembling unit outside America at Bawal, Haryana in 2011.
