H-Energy Pvt Ltd (HEPL), the energy arm of Hiranandani Group, has been provided the rights by the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) for laying gas pipeline of 635 km between Jaigarh in Maharashtra and Mangalore in Karnataka.

The pipeline will link Jaigarh in Maharashtra’s Ratnagiri district, Panjim in Goa, Karwar in Uttara Kannada district and Udupi district in Karnataka before ending at Mangalore.

“The entity is allowed a maximum period of 36 months from the date of issue of the authorisation letter for commissioning of the natural gas pipeline project,” the petroleum regulator said in an order.

The capacity of the pipeline is to carry 17 million metric standard cubic meters per day (mmscmd) of natural gas and 4.25 mmscmd of capacity will be provided to third parties for general carrier access.

Last month, HEPL had said that the pipeline will connect key industrial units such as fertilizer plants, power plants, petrochemical plants and refineries in the south-western coastal belt of Sindhudurg, Ratnagiri, Goa, Udupi, Karwar and Mangalore.

The pipeline will also serve as a gateway for the growth of city’s gas distribution (CNG) network in the area to provide environment-friendly fuel (CNG) for transport as well as cooking gas to homes.

An affiliate of HEPL, H-Energy Gateway Pvt Ltd (HEGPL), is establishing a 4 million tonnes a year floating LNG terminal for import at Jaigarh port near Ratnagiri district in Maharashtra.

All the main clearances, port pacts and technical analysis have been finished and the project is likely to be commissioned in the Q2 of 2018.

H-Energy Pvt Ltd is a subsidiary of the real estate player Hiranandani Group. Apart from real estate, the group has diversified activities including Education, Hospitality, Healthcare, IT-enabled services, Entertainment and Retail sectors.
