JLR witnesses best ever sales in January, up by 4%

Jaguar Land Rover (JLR), owned by Tata Motors, on Monday reported its best-ever retail sales in the month of January at 47,693 units, an increase of 4% compared to the corresponding month of 2016.
The sales performance in the given month has been led by the ongoing success of the models Jaguar F-PACE, XF, Range Rover Sport and Land Rover Discovery Sport.
“Jaguar Land Rover has achieved its best-ever January sales performance in 2017, with total retail sales of 47,693 units, up 4% on the prior year, primarily driven by the ongoing success of the Jaguar F-PACE, XF, Range Rover Sport and Land Rover Discovery Sport,” the company said in a filing.
Jaguar model registered retail sales of 13,949 units in the month of January, an increase of 76%, led by the ongoing success of the model F-PACE and also the strong demand for XF and XJ, along with the strong demand for Jaguar XFL in China.
Land Rover registered sales of 33,744 units in the given month, a decline of 11% compared to the corresponding period in 2016, as the strong sales of the Range Rover Sport and Land Rover Discovery Sport were outweighed by the run-out of Defender and Discovery models of the Land Rover, the company said.
The sales of the all-new model of Land Rover Discovery are expected to start in the current quarter, it added.
The retail sales performance of the JLR globally shows growth the markers of North America (29%), China (14%), the UK (2%) and other international markets (19%). However, the sales declined in the European market by 8%.
