Piramal buys 4 Pfizer brands for products business

The consumer products division of Piramal Enterprises has acquired four brands from Pfizer for Rs.110 crore, namely Ferradol, Neko, Sloan’s and Waterbury’s Compound.

The agreement contains the trademark rights for Ferradol and Waterbury’s Compound in Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, the company said in a statement on Friday.

The finalisation of the deal is subjected to approval from regulatory authority.

Nandini Piramal, Executive Director, Piramal Enterprises said, “Our main aim is to become a prominent player in every business under the healthcare segment of Piramal Enterprises Ltd.

“Piramal is one of the largest companies in custom manufacturing and has manufacturing units in Asia, European Union and North America. Our Critical Care vertical is the third largest in the market of Global Inhalation Anesthesia,” she said.

“Acquisition is one of the vital routes that can help us achieve our aim. In the past six months, we have acquired two companies in the segment of Consumer Products,” she added.

The company also stated that these brands from Pfizer will fit the company’s portfolio and strategically help it move closer towards the company’s stated objective.

The combination of raising its core brands and acquiring accretive brands has helped the company create a unique business and to build a powerful portfolio of OTC brands in India.

Ferradol, Neko, Sloan’s and Waterbury’s Compound are functioning in a market and are collectively estimated at Rs.7000 crore.

Many brands in our portfolio such as Ipill, Caladryl, Lacto Calamine, Saridon and Tetmosol have durable customer franchise and are major players in their respective domains,” said Kedar Rajadnye, COO - Consumer Products Division, Piramal Enterprises.
