Plant Quarantine (Regulation of Import into India) Order, 2003 amended

In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 3 of the Destructive Insects and Pests Act, 1914 (2 of 1914), the Central Government hereby makes the following Order further to amend the Plant Quarantine (Regulation of Import into India) Order, 2003, namely:-

1. Short title and Commencement.- (1) This Order may be called the Plant Quarantine (Regulation of Import into India) (Third Amendment) Order, 2016.

(2) It shall come into force on the date of its publication in the Official Gazette.

2. Amendment of Schedule VI.- In the Schedule VI to the Plant Quarantine (Regulation of Import into India) Order, 2003-

(i) Against serial no.58, relating to Cajanus cajan. (Pigeon pea) in column (3) for the category ‘Grain (seed) for consumption, after item (xii) and the entries relating thereto in column (4), (5) and (6) the following item and entries shall respectively be inserted, namely:-

(ii) Against serial number 184, relating to Juglans spp. (Walnut), in column (3), against entry (ii) for the category ‘Dry fruits for consumption(shelled and unshelled)’ after item (iii) and the entries relating thereto in columns (4), (5) and (6), the following item and entries shall respectively be inserted, namely:-

(iii) For serial number 725 and the entries relating thereto, the following serial number and entries shall be substituted, namely:-

3. Amendment of Schedule VII.- In the Schedule VII to the Plant Quarantine (Regulation of Import into India) Order, 2003:

(i) Against the existing serial numbers 171 and 224 and the entries relating thereto, respectively, the following entries shall be inserted namely:-

“171. Mrystica fragrans – Nutmeg & Mace for consumption 224. Rosa spp. – Rose flower and rosehip (whole/broken) (dried) for medicinal use/ consumption.”

(ii) After the existing serial number 296 and the entries relating thereto, the following serial numbers and entries shall be inserted namely:-

“297. Linum spp. – Flax fibres for consumption/processing.
298. Uncaria tomentosa – Cat’s claw leaves (dried) for consumption.”
