The Dollar Business Bureau Qatar Airways and Vistara on Tuesday entered into an interline partnership, under which customers of the two carriers will have seamless travel to and from India to over 150 destinations. The partnership is effective from Monday, Qatar Airways said in a media release. The Gulf carrier currently operates to 13 cities in India from Doha while Vistara, the Tata-SIA run domestic carrier operates to 18 domestic destinations. An interline arrangement refers to a pact to issue and accept tickets for flights that are operated by the partner airline. As per data maintained by the Airports Authority of India (AAI), air freight handled at Indian airports grew by more than 20 times from 0.08 million metric tonnes in 1972-73 to 2.5 million metric tonnes in 2014-15, and its compound annual growth rate (CAGR) was 8.8% during 2013-14 to 2016-17. The Dollar Business Bureau As per the measure of revenue passenger kilometres (RPK), a unit used to measure passenger volume, International Air Transport Association (IATA) reported that India’s domestic passenger traffic, during the month of March 2017, grew at the slowest rate since September 2015. “China overtakes India as the fastest growing domestic market,” the monthly report stated. Monthly air passenger market analysis report released by the international association, recorded a robust 7% first quarter global growth in passenger demand, which is well ahead of the long-run average of around 5.5%. The Dollar Business Bureau Air passenger traffic of domestic carriers increased around 16% to 86.55 lakh in the month of February compared to the same period in the previous year, according to the data by Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). India’s domestic carriers together flew overall 86.55 lakh passengers in the month of February 2017 against the 74.76 lakh passengers in the same month of the previous year, witnessing a growth of 15.77%, the data said. PTI  The domestic air passenger traffic in India grew by a whopping 23.6 per cent in September over the past year as against the global average of 7.2 per cent during the period, an IATA press release said on Friday. The demand in air travel in India was more than five times of the US air passenger growth, which stood at 4.6% in September this year over the same period of 2015, according to a data by International Air Transport Association (IATA). The Ministry of Civil Aviation too has confirmed the same. According to the regional connectivity scheme UDAN (Ude desh ka aam nagrik) flights would be connected between unserved and underserved parts of the country at subsidised rates. PTI  Domestic full service carrier Vistara today said it plans to operate 530 flights per week by year end with the induction of its 13th aircraft, which is expected to be delivered to the airline next month.The city-based airline, Vistara, in which Tata Sons and Singapore Airlines own 51 per cent and 49 per cent stake, respectively, currently operates 430 weekly flights to 17 destinations with a fleet of 12 Airbus A320 planes."We have inducted the 12th aircraft in the fleet last week, and the 13th aircraft will be delivered to us in the third week of October.
