Aamir H Kaki Textiles Minister Smriti Irani on Thursday inaugurated the 44th edition of Indian Handicrafts and Gift Fair (IHGF) 2017, organised by Exports Promotion Council for Handicrafts (EPCH), at India Expo Centre and Mart in Greater Noida. In her address, she said, “I hope that the delegates who will come to attend the IHGF from over 100 countries would have more and more B2B engagements with the representatives and export houses, which are exhibiting their products at the Fair. Handicrafts exports decline in first half of current fiscal: EPCH
Aamir H Kaki Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts (EPCH) said on Wednesday that handicrafts exports from the country were declined during the first six months of current financial year, due to disruptions caused by implementation of GST, exchange rates and some global matters. “The handicrafts exports from India during the first six months of 2017-18 were declined compared to a year ago. The exports during the period were Rs.12520 crore,” said O.P. EPCH urges FM to exempt handicrafts from GST
The Dollar Business Bureau The Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts (EPCH) has requested the Finance Minister to exempt the handicrafts sector from the Goods and Services Tax (GST). The sector is apprehensive that GST may have some difficult tasks for the segment, Rakesh Kumar, Executive Director, EPCH said in a statement. The handicrafts sector currently has 100 percent exemption under central excise. However, the sector may be covered under GST with higher taxes which can make the products un-competitive in the foreign markets, he said. Handicraft exports to reach 23,560 cr in 2016-17: EPCH
Manishika Miglani The export of Indian handicrafts is likely to witness a 10 per cent jump to reach 23,560 crore in 2016-17 as a result of increased demand in traditional and new markets, according to Exports Promotion Council for Handicrafts (EPCH). The council has noticed that the demand in regions like US, Europe, Latin America and Middle East is picking up which can lead to healthy recording of exports. The exports have recorded a rise of 18.25 per cent year-on-year to Rs 13,005.35 crore in the financial quarter of April-September 2016. Devaluation of yuan to impact handicraft export: EPCH
Source: PTI India's handicraft export, impacted by global slowdown, is expected to take a hit in the current fiscal due to the devaluation of the Chinese currency, EPCH on Monday said. Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts (EPCH) said that Indian products would lose their competitiveness in the global market due to the devaluation of yuan. “Indian products will now face problem in global markets. Chinese handicraft exporters would now get edge over our Indian products. Our competitiveness will be impacted. It may hurt our exports,” EPCH Vice-Chairman Rajesh Kumar Jain told PTI.
