The Dollar Business Bureau Japan on Thursday laid strong emphasis on varied avenues of the bilateral trade between India and Japan. “The two Prime Ministers resolved to transform the Japan-India Special Strategic and Global Partnership into a deep, broad-based and action-oriented one reflecting a broad convergence of their long-term political, economic and strategic goals,” said Masayuki Taga, Consul General of Japan in Kolkata. “This has indicated a broad convergence of long standing economic, political and strategic objectives between the two nations,” Taga said while addressing a session, organised by the Calcutta Chamber of Commerce. Japan records huge trade surplus in Feb '17 due to strong export growth

The Dollar Business Bureau This February, for the 32nd consecutive month, Japan registered a current account surplus. Information released by Japanese finance ministry shows that the country generated a $25.26 billion current account surplus during February 2017, showing year on year growth. After a slowdown in the beginning of the year due to the Lunar New Year season, Japanese exports rebounded and strengthened the trade balance to $7.3 billion in February, reversing a deficit in the month of January. While exports inched up 11.3% y-o-y to $56 billion approximately, imports stood at around $49 billion, growing marginally y-o-y at 1.2%. India seeks greater market access for pharma, marine products in Japan

R&I, Indian government to discuss ratings review

The Dollar Business Bureau   As a part of the annual practice of reviewing India’s credit rating system, Japan’s credit rating agency, Ratings and Investment Information (R&I) will be holding discussions with the senior officials of the Finance Ministry on Monday. R&I had given a “BBB” investment grading to India last year, for its ‘stable’ outlook, marking the sufficient credit worthiness of the country. However, the agency specified that India needs to focus on specific factors considering the changing environment globally.
