India to export 145 MW electricity to Nepal
The Dollar Business Bureau India said on Thursday that it would export extra electricity of 145 MW to Nepal through the newly built two cross-border transmission lines, few days after Nepal requested for more electricity to cope with the severe load-shedding. “Export of power to Nepal is expected to increase by around 145 MW shortly through two 132 kV transmission lines," Indian Embassy said in a statement. Last month, construction of the two cross-border transmission lines was completed. These are Katiya- Kusaha and Raxual-Parwanipur cross-border. Soon after the construction completed, Kathmandu requested New Delhi to provide power via these two transmission lines. Govt keen on electrifying all villages by May 2017
The Dollar Business Bureau Power Minister Piyush Goyal said the government will provide electricity connection to all the villages by May 2017, about a year before the 1000-day deadline established by Narendra Modi-led government. He also announced soft loans for states for undertaking this mission. "Electrification of villages have slowed down during the last couple of months due to rain. A release shared by the company with the BSE points out to 3 deals- a mixed-used development facility in Delhi, a civil work project at Hyderabad, and a power and transmission line in Thailand. With the first project, worth Rs.1500 crore, L&T has bagged a major turnkey project involving a leading and unnamed developer for constructing a mixed-used development facility at New Delhi.
