Reliance Defence wins Rs.916 cr contract from Defence Ministry

The Dollar Business Bureau  Reliance Defence and Engineering Ltd (RDEL), a fully-owned subsidiary of Reliance Infrastructure Ltd (RInfra), has signed a contract worth Rs.916 crore with Ministry of Defence for designing and construction of 14 fast patrol vessels (FPV) for the Indian Coast Guard. Ministry of Defence has undertaken a competitive bidding process, in which RDEL emerged a winner among participants of all public and private sector shipyards including L&T, Goa Shipyard Ltd, Cochin Shipyard Ltd, Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Ltd (GRSE), said a statement released by the company. Source: PTI Reliance Defence has signed strategic partnership agreement with three Ukrainian state- owned companies which will allow them to collaborate on a range of military products including transport aircraft, upgrade of armoured vehicles, maritime gas turbines and unmanned aerial vehicles. The development follows a meeting between Reliance Group Chairman Anil Ambani and Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko in Ukraine this week. Government allows foreign firm to bid for a domestic helicopter contract

 The Dollar Business Bureau In a move to promote the Make in India, the Government of India has decided to allow a foreign firm to bid for a Naval Utility Helicopter (NUH) contract, on the condition that the firm ties up with a local vendor. According to the Defence News, the Indian government is likely to allow the Italy-based AugustaWestland to bid for NUH for the Indian Navy. The contract by the Indian Navy, for the supply of 100 light-utility vehicles is estimated to be worth around US$ 2 billion, the report informed.
