Taiwan gives free visa to boost MICE market

Taiwan has introduced a new and simplified group visa regime to encourage more high-end tourist groups from Southeast Asian countries to visit Taiwan.
According to the new policy, the Taiwanese government will give free visas to five or more persons to increase the MICE movement to Taiwan, as it aims to cater to high-class travellers from countries like India, Indonesia, the Philippines, Vietnam, Myanmar, Cambodia and Laos.
“We are promoting Taiwan as the destination for corporate meetings and conferences,” said Shuhan Pan, International Affairs Division, Tourism Bureau of Ministry of Transportation and Communications.
In a similar move, the Taiwanese government had introduced a MICE Incentive Plan for the Indian market in December last year, with specially-designed MICE-centric sample itineraries, special schemes and performances designed to attract MICE groups.
With the Taiwanese government’s newly announced policy and Indian government’s constant focus on Act India Policy, the tourism traffic between the two countries are set to witness a fillip in the coming months.
