Policies and reforms creating demand for technology: Minister
The Dollar Business Bureau The Union Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Ravi Shankar Prasad on Friday, said that the Make in India Policy, Smart cities, Digital India and liberalization of defence manufacturing, among others are creating larger demand for the technology solutions and hardware in India. The Union Minister expressed his vision towards creating a larger scope for technology solutions and hardware in the Indian market. He was speaking to M K Tsai, global Chairman, Media Tek, one of the largest chip-design companies in the world. In a meeting with the Union Minister, M K Tsai informed the Minister that his company is committed to provide technology services to India and is keen on expanding its base in the country. Responding to M K Tsai, the Union Minister expressed his views over the growing opportunities in the field of technology. The Minister said that government is aimed at creating more IT hubs and BPO centres across India, especially across rural India. The Minister further shared with the Chairman, the existing and growing opportunities in country’s technology sector, being provided by the Government of India. He told Tsai that he had also sought the US support in boosting the electronic manufacturing sector of India. To this, the US had also expressed its interest to invest and take an active participation in Digital India inititative and to join India in promoting manufacturing sector. The Union Minister feels that the Digital India Initiative will bring in more private players and promote e-governance on a larger scale. The Union Finance Minister had also expressed confidence in many cases that the Indian government will completely rely upon IT industry for the success of Digital India initiative and the realization of Make in India policy. With this growing support from the Government of India, more multinational giants are expected to join India in boosting the India’s technology sector, thereby creating ample employment opportunities.
