The Dollar Business Bureau The Indian government will constitute a carpet export panel consisting of textile experts from the textile department and from the Export Promotion Council/Trade to ensure expeditious examination and speedier disbursal of drawback on carpets. The Directorate General of Export Promotion (DGEP) said these experts will complete a market inquiry within fifteen days, failing which export benefits to the exporters should be extended. The government said a post-facto action may be taken in view of results of inquiry and export benefits be held beyond 15 days only with the written approval of the Commissioner. The Dollar Business Bureau  The government will soon launch the revised Technology Upgradation Fund Scheme (TUFS) to accelerate textile and jute production and support export oriented units. The scheme, first launched in 1999, is aimed at accelerating investments in the textiles sector through 5% interest reimbursement. It also focuses on quality, branding and exports of textile products at a faster scale. Himanshu Vatsa | The Dollar Business Even as the government is likely to reintroduce the interest subvention scheme to encourage outbound shipment from the country, exporters say that the scheme should be implemented from retrospective effect. As per the interest subvention scheme enforced till March 2014, exporters used to get a rebate of up to 3% in the interest on their loan. According to Commerce Secretary Rajeev Kher, the government is in the process of reintroducing the scheme by the end of this month.
