BHEL launches 500-MW power plant in Sudan
BHEL had recently commissioned 2X20MW steam turbine and generators for cogeneration application of Tendaho Sugar Factory in Ethiopia.

Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. (BHEL) on Saturday announced that its Kosti Thermal Power Plant in Sudan, the largest power plant of that country, has been inaugurated by Sudan’s President Omer Hassan Ahmed-El-Basheer.
“Located in Kosti, Sudan, BHEL has executed 500 MW project comprising 4 units of 125 MW each, on engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) basis, having designed, manufactured, supplied and installed the complete power project including associated civil works,” BHEL said in a statement.
This project is BHEL’s largest oil-fired thermal plant in the overseas market and also its first crude-oil fired thermal power plant in Africa.
The project comes close on the heels of the successful completion of BHEL’s 28 MW Nyaborango Hydro project in Rwanda.
Recently, BHEL had also commissioned 2X20MW steam turbine and generators for cogeneration application of Tendaho Sugar Factory in Ethiopia.
BHEL has been operational in the African continent for almost 40 years and has its presence in almost half of the continent.
BHEL today has presence in 78 countries across six continents, with its engagements primarily in thermal, gas, nuclear, hydro and solar projects.
